About the Just Faith Campaign

We are confronted with many difficult issues and harsh realities in the world today. Has your congregation considered what God says about these issues so that they can form a Biblical worldview? Are they ready to engage in informed conversation with their friends, work colleagues and family? The world accuses the Church of being "irrelevant" but Jesus said we are "the salt of the earth". Equip your people to bring God's wisdom, understanding and healing into a troubled world.

Just Faith has been designed by TEAR Australia to explore the connections between our faith and the big issues of the world today. Participants are invited to open their Bibles, open their eyes, and open their hearts. Together we will investigate the state of the world and what the Bible says about how we can look at, understand and live well in this world. Just Faith will not provide all the answers to these difficult issues. What it will provide is a platform for healthy, Biblical discussion. Help your congregation develop a Biblical worldview so that they can learn to be better followers of Jesus in this unequal world.

  • Is all this talk about the environment and global warming relevant to me as a Christian?
  • I know I am wealthy by the world's standards, but it costs more to live in Australia. Isn't it all relative?
  • Is there really poverty in the world? When does it become my responsibility to do something about it?
  • If there is no war or violence where I live, am I responsible to help those that are suffering?

By opting for IGNORANCE, we won't know what God expects of us.

By choosing to OVERLOOK issues of injustice, we actual endorse them.

By staying ON THE FENCE, we don't show the world what being a follower of Jesus is about.

Just Faith has been produced by TEAR Australia in association with Church Resource Specialties. TEAR is a movement of Christians in Australia responding to the needs of poor communities around the world. TEAR works in partnership with other Christian groups, including churches, relief and development agencies and community-based organisations. In Australia, TEAR works to inform and empower Christians, in partnership with local churches, to make a biblically-shaped response to suffering and oppressed communities.

Throughout the campaign your congregation will be challenged, but, hopefully, also inspired by the stories and people they will meet. At times it might feel like this campaign opens up more questions than answers - this is to be expected. The campaign is not designed to give all the answers or to tell people what to think. You will be introduced to a number of different people from various backgrounds who will present their own personal perspectives on a range of issues. You are invited to listen to them, reflect, and talk with others about what you have heard. Prayerfully consider what you yourself think but, most importantly, how you will respond.

Through this campaign your church members are invited to reflect on the way they see and understand the world - that is, their 'worldview'. When we think about the world, what intrigues us? What questions do we ask, and, more interestingly perhaps, what questions don't we ask? In response, we will consider what a biblical worldview looks like, and how such a worldview challenges our faith and life. While this may be an uncomfortable process at times, we hope you are able to remain open and trust the Spirit of God to be at work in you - stirring you, inspiring you, and giving you hope.
